In 1997 he relocated to the United States, a move Pat thought would help him reach his goal of becoming a successful trainer and competitor in the reining horse industry. The move proved to be the right one. Pat is currently 38th on NRHA's list of all time leading money earners.

He became part of reining history when he represented Canada at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain. Pat now lives on their ranch in Gainesville , Texas with his wife Veronica and their daughters Emma and Alexandra.
